Dr. William E. Roberts

Dr. William E. “Rob” Roberts, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army (Retired) is Superintendent of Nye County School District, Nevada, the largest geographical school district in the contiguous United States.  This district encompasses 18,400 square miles, which include seven communities and 17 schools with approximately 6,000 students in attendance.

Rob is a decorated combat helicopter pilot, former assistant professor of military science at West Point, Professor of Military Science at Stetson University, adjunct Professor of Education for the University of San Francisco and University of Phoenix.

Dr. Rob has held the position of principal at Incline Village Middle School, Incline Village High School, and Reno High School.  He was selected as Superintendent of the Year for 2004 by the Nevada Association of School Boards.  The American School Journal selected Nye County School District for the 2005 Magna AwardeSchool News chose Dr. Roberts as "Tech Savvy Superintendent" in 2006.  The Nevada Association of School Superintendents selected Dr. Roberts as the state of Nevada Superintendent of the Year for 2008.  Also, Nye County School District and Dr. Roberts have been honored for the last three years by the Nevada Tax Payers Association as being one of the top five finalists for their annual Cashman Good Government Award.

Rob joined Nye County School District in 2002.
