A Paraprofessional must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, PLUS one of the following:
- Completed at least 2 years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (minimum of 48 college credits), OR
- Obtained an Associates (or higher) degree, OR
- Passed a formal state or local academic assessment of knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and math
A Paraprofessional must supply copies of their transcripts to prove the 48 credits or a copy of their degree earned from an accredited university.
The Paraprofessional test can be taken at either the Pahrump District Office or the Tonopah District Office. This test consists of 90 multiple-choice questions across the subject areas of reading, mathematics, and writing.
