Transportation

Nye County School District

The Nye County School District Transportation Department would like to welcome all parents, guardians, and students to the new school year. The start of school is quickly approaching, and we wanted to keep you informed of some important facts. Please listen and look for calls and postings from the schools your children are attending this upcoming year. The NCSD and school websites have specific information that you will find very valuable to start the year, especially the start and end time for each school. We want to make sure each child eligible to ride the bus is scheduled and pick-up/drop-off times are clear.  These schedules will be located in the Parent Portal before the start of school. The start of the school year is the most hectic, but we want to make it a smooth experience. Here are some important things to remember prior to starting the school year.

  • Please access your parental account on Infinite Campus, update if needed, and check accuracy of all information for the current school year (especially if you have moved)

  • Double-check the phone number accuracy in IC when checking information-many calls are coming out over the next few weeks with important information

  • Please check for all immunization requirements for Elementary and 7th grade students

  • Look on the websites and Facebook pages (if applicable) of the NCSD and schools

  • Visit local businesses and school websites for supply lists

  • If your child is registered and riding a bus, please review the following rules with them prior to the start of the school year. Riding a bus is a privilege and misbehavior can result in the loss of this privilege. Here are the basic expectations on the NCSD buses:

Be Respectful and Kind:

  • Follow directions- listen and be respectful to the driver/staff

  • Use kind words and actions- be nice, respectful, helpful to others.

  • No cursing or offensive language, please!

  • Food and drinks stay in backpack

  • Respect all property- keep bus seats free of writing or damage

  • Keep voice levels down (Voice Level 0-1)

Be Responsible:

  • Remember your property- keep items in your backpack

  • Use cell phones properly- no pictures or videos taken

  • Get on and off at your assigned stop

  • Be alert! - Watch for your stop and remember your bus number

  • Report suspicious or unsafe activity

  • No inappropriate or illegal actions or activity

Be Safe:

  • Buckle up immediately (if available)

We appreciate you reviewing these expectations with your child to ensure positive experiences from the first day of school to the very last. By working together, the school year will be amazing!
