And the Winner Is...
If you purchased raffle tickets for the Gabbs quilt fundraiser, the winner is Leila Horn, who is a long time resident of Gabbs. Her family puchased several tickets for her because of her long history with the community and school.
Leila rasied four children in Gabbs, and all are graduates of Gabbs High school. In 1978 her family also hosted an exchange student from Mexico who also graduated. She worked at the first cafeteria in the school and then at the local magnesium mine, which is among the oldest operating mines in the world.
She finished her work years as a Nye County Municipal Judge and retired.
She always says, "Learn something everyday and it will be a good day!!!"
With her community history, she'll cherish her new quilt from the students of Gabbs.
